Marcus Liffner, store owner of ICA Båstad, had grown tired of the security bars installed in the office and break room. Wanting a better solution, he decided to switch to Hammerglass Add-On.
The ICA store in Båstad has recently been renovated. It’s spacious and offers a well-curated selection of products. As a dedicated store owner, Marcus Liffner prioritizes both his customers and employees, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and welcome.
"The only thing I’ve been dissatisfied with was the security bars mounted on the windows in our office and staff room — five fairly large windows in total. They made the space feel enclosed. Sometimes, when I was in a Teams meeting, people would joke and ask if I was sitting in a prison cell… So, I decided to do something about it."
Having been in retail for many years, Marcus knows how vulnerable store owners can be. Over the years, he has experienced around 10 to 15 attempted break-ins at various store locations.
"I still needed strong security — just as strong as the bars—but I wanted to get rid of the visual obstruction. Hammerglass is a local company, and I was already familiar with some of their solutions, so I gave them a call for a quote."
Truls Nilsson, Area Sales Manager at Hammerglass South, helped Marcus find the right security solution.
"Since there were already interior security bars in all the windows, removing them left behind large and unsightly holes. The best and most cost-effective solution was to install our Add-On U-profile. It conceals the holes from the removed bars while providing excellent break-in protection, which was the primary security concern. If the store had suffered from glass breakage due to vandalism — such as thrown stones — I would have recommended an exterior Add-On profile instead. But in this case, the Add-On U blends seamlessly into the existing window frame, making it impossible to tell that bars were ever there."
