Christian Deiss, the technical manager at Menzi Muck, agrees with Roberto: "Our customers work in special civil engineering, in the steepest terrain, for example with a drill rig in places where an ordinary crawler excavator could never work. We also have customers in the water industry, as we can reach a depth of up to 2.2 meters. Various customers also work in maintenance and forestry, in places where ordinary forestry machines cannot move. Extreme situations require increased safety, or rather a rethink as a manufacturer. At Menzi Muck, the topic of safety is already included in every phase of development, which is why we have been working together with Hammerglass from the very beginning to supply the best safety components from the factory."
"The market is in many ways sceptical towards polycarbonate," says Christian Deiss on the material choice: "Ordinary, non-coated polycarbonate has caused many problems in the past, like scratches and poor UV stability. Hammerglass has brought a solution to the market, solving these problems with their silica-based hard-coating. Customer feedback is all positive. In our experience, Hammerglass is superior in every way compared to other rigid plastic glazing solutions on the market. It gives our operators long-term safety and work joy."
Roberto Agostoni knows better than anyone how a lack of material knowledge can result in the wrong safety choice. "Always ask the right questions when you scan the market for a new safety window: What level of durability do you need to keep your operator safe? And, also important, what level of durability do you need to minimize expensive standstills for the machine, to avoid production lapses due to cracks in the glass, or a completely broken windshield?" he says.
What are the future plans for Menzi Muck as a company?
Christian Deiss replies, "To further strengthen our position as a market leader, to develop the machines to be even more powerful and efficient, with maximum operator safety. In terms of technical innovation, the peak is never reached. We are always striving for further optimization. It is in the history of the company to never stand still but to constantly develop further."
