Hammerglass AB offers CE-marked noise attenuation solutions for roads, bridges and railways. Both the low weight and the hard surface of Hammerglass makes it a popular choice not only for new projects but also for glass replacement. The use of nanotechnology helps to prevent pollutants from exhaust fumes, oil and asphalt from adhering to Hammerglass as easily as they do to ordinary glass. Its estimated service life is more than 40 years. Hammerglass Noise Reduction systems are installed on bridge railings and traffic dividers and alongside roads and railways in Sweden, Norway and Finland. The effect of a noise barrier depends in part on the height and thickness of the barrier, and in part on the speed of the passing vehicles. An effective noise barrier is 4-6 metres high. We can assist with acoustic calculation in order to determine, on the basis of local conditions, precisely how high a particular barrier ought to be. Chalmers University of Technology has on the basis of the Harmonoise model simulated noise reduction under various conditions. This simulation is regularly used by local authorities and designers to provide a preview of what a finished solution would look like.

A complete system for installing on bridges or walls along roads or railways. The system is based on a fully assembled Hammerglass Ground-2 or Bridge-2 solution and is supplemented by a highly absorbent mat which is clamped to the Hammerglass panel. Hammerfoam is fitted on that side facing the railway track or the carriageway. On the outside of the barrier is fitted the vandal-proof Hammerglass panel, which is also sunk approximately 20 cm into the ground. Hammerfoam is flame-retardant, UV resistant and age-resistant. It also withstands chemicals and pressure washers used for graffiti removal. Hammerfoam does not absorb water.
Hammerglass Noise Reduction is suitable for use with most posts and fixings currently on the market. We also supply our own systems in hot-dip galvanised steel. The posts can be fixed to bridge railings, plinths or walls. The Hammerglass sheets are usually 12 mm thick. Before the sheets are cut, each section of barrier for glazing is measured individually, which means that it is possible to produce barriers which follow the contours of the ground. Consequently, the noise reduction barrier does not need to be stepped when there are changes in ground level. Height and design are individually tailored to each project. The panels are secured with wire or through bolts. The panels may also be provided with patterns, usually opal, in order to prevent birds from flying into them. This technique even allows for printing in up to 4 colours, which is suitable for municipal coats of arms, for example, or for the printing of patterns repeated at regular intervals. Hammerglass sheets may also be supplied in opal or fully coloured in any desired colour. All forms of printed or coloured Hammerglass may also be provided with illumination in order to create eye-catching effects. Bridges, subways and balustrades then become focal points of light in the night darkness.
A complete system using bolt groups for installation in the ground or onto walls, along roads or railways. This system is CE-marked. Hot-dip galvanised square posts with a ground plate for bottom fitting. It can be installed on support walls or with ground anchors. The Hammerglass panels are clamped between an HFRHS post and a robust clamping profile, and secured with wire at the top. When installed with bolt groups in the ground it is advisable to bury the panels to a depth of about 20 cm in order to prevent the transmission of noise beneath the barrier. The Hammerglass panels are installed on the inside of the posts (facing the road). They can be supplied up to a height of 6 metres.
A complete system for mounting onto bridge posts along roads or railways. Hot-dip galvanised posts for side mounting onto bridge posts. The Hammerglass panels are clamped between an HFRHS post and a robust clamping profile, and secured with wire at the top. The Hammerglass panels are installed on the outside of the posts with an external support plate and fixed with through bolts. Installation is carried out from the inside of the bridge.
A complete CE-marked system for mounting onto bridge to the side of the bridge edge girder along roads or railways. Normally the screen is angled outwards to maintain the working width of the road barrier. The Hammerglass panels are clamped between an HFRHS post and a robust clamping profile, and secured with wire at the top. Can be supplied up to a height of 6 metres.
Bring us into your discussions at the idea stage. Our designers will prepare drawings and offer suggestions for functional solutions. We will be happy to provide tenders for complete projects: Made-to-measure Hammerglass, posts, fixing systems and installation.
